Box-Pleated Kilt (16 oz. Strome Standard)

PhotobucketTROME IS THE HEAVYWEIGHT (16 oz.) TARTAN RANGE offered by Lochcarron of Scotland. It is considered by many to be the premier kilting fabric. Strome is available in a wide range of tartans and shades. View the tartans below to make your selection.

Ordering a kilt is a special thing and this process is meant to streamline ordering as much as possible, not to dehumanize the experience. If you have any questions before or after you make an order, please feel free to contact me.

Measuring

Photobucket
IMPORTANT: It is preferrable to have someone else take these measurements rather than yourself.

1. Natural waist. This is NOT your trouser size! For most people, this is the indent at your side just above the navel. This measurement should be fairly snug.

2. Hips. Measure the widest part of your hips. This can be loosely done over clothing.

3. Length of the kilt. Measure from your natural waist to the top of your knee-cap. Keep your back straight and don't look down. Add 5 cm (2") to this result, or 10 cm (4") if you desire a military rise. For most people this is uncomfortably high on the ribs, so unless your are looking for a military-styled kilt, I suggest a rise of no more than 5 cm (2").

Additional Measurements: Height and Weight. This is needed to double check other measurements.

Note: Measurements 124.5 cm (49") and over will incur a surcharge. Please contact me (john@gaelicclothing.com) for exact pricing.
