ARTERS ARE LONG STRIPS OF WOVEN OR KNITTED cloth which wrap around the calf to keep your hose up. They are available in a wide range of shades to match most traditional kilt colours. If in doubt, red garter ties are the standard and will match with any colour of kilt. Note that I offer a free pair of matching tartan garter flashes with every kilt order. (My garter flashes are strips of tartan typically cut with a chevron tip, folded, and sewn onto an adjustable twill tape band.)
Prices are in Canadian funds. Canadian residents must pay GST (5%). Ontario residents must pay PST (8%). All garter ties are made in the United Kingdom.
Garter Ties
These traditional garter ties are a bit less than a metre long and are fringed at each end. They are available in the same colours as the Hawick/House of Cheviot kilt hose. They will also coordinate with these Highland Neckties.
How to Wear Traditional Garter Ties: Hold one end against the outside of your leg, wrap the long end around your calf (however many times you need), and finish by looping under the wound portion beside the end you started with. Fold down your hose top as you would with garter flashes.
