Jackets and Waistcoats/Còtaichean

PhotobucketACKETS AND WAISTCOATS ADD THE FINISHING TOUCHES TO a Highland outfit. Day wear jackets such as the ever-popular Argyll and the newer Wallace style are suitable for a wide variety of events, not just those occurring 'during the day'. The Prince Charlie coatee is a long-time favourite for weddings and black tie events. The recent Irish styles of the Kilkenny and the Brian Boru provide exciting new options for those putting together an Irish-themed kilted outfit.

All jackets and waistcoats are 100% wool and are made in the United Kingdom. There is a sizing guide located at the bottom of this page. They are available in chest sizes 36"-54". Anything below 36" is considered boys sizing. Sizes above 54" are available. Contact me if you are interested.

All prices are in Canadian funds. Canadian residents must pay GST (5%). Ontario residents must also pay PST (8%).

The Wallace Jacket

The new Wallace jacket and waistcoat can be worn at both formal and informal occasions. This contemporary style is becoming a popular favourite; featuring clean lines, perfect for any special celebration. Tailored in either 15 oz. black wool barathea with shaded vertical striping with antique silver-effect buttons or charcoal tweed with stag horn buttons.

The Argyll Jacket

The Argyll is the traditional choice for a Highland day wear jacket. It is also one of the most versatile of kilt jackets. The Argyll can be worn as day wear (in lovat green, lovat blue, charcoal, or highland green tweed with stag horn buttons) or as formal wear in 15 oz. black barathea wool with polished silver buttons. Navy, Burgundy, and Bottle Green colours are also available. It can be worn with or without a waistcoat (vest).

The Prince Charlie

The Prince Charlie coatee with matching 3-button waistcoat is the Highland equivalent to a tuxedo and, as such, is worn to black tie events. If paired with a white pique bow tie, dress shirt, and waistcoat (available at most formal wear shops) it could certainly pass muster for white tie events as well. Tailored in black 15 oz. all wool barathea with polished silver buttons. Navy, Bottle Green, and Burgundy are also available.

Tailored in 15 oz. barathea available in black, navy, bottle green, and burgundy.

Stock Jacket Size Guide

Follow this chart below to determine your stock jacket size. These jackets are made to the standards of British tailoring, so they are closely fitted. (i.e. If you normally take an American Size 42, order a  Size 44 instead.)

Size (Chest): Measure loosely around chest at underarm height while wearing a shirt/vest (no jacket), with arms by the sides. Do not inflate the chest

Full Length: For Prince Charlie and Brian Boru coatees and Regulation Doublets, measure length from the nape of the neck to waist, just above top of hips. For Argyll, Kilkenny, and Wallace jackets, measure from the nape of the neck to the base of the spine, just above the seat.

Half Back: Measure from centre back centre seam on a well fitting jacket, at 6" below the bottom of the collar to shoulder seam, arms by the sides.

Sleeve Length (Crown to Cuff): Measure from shoulder seam to cuff.
