Children's Kilt, Large (11.5 oz. K/7 Custom Weave)

PhotobucketUSTOM WEAVE MEANS JUST THAT: ANY TARTAN IN  any shade (except copyrighted/restricted tartans). Woven by D.C. Dalgliesh of Selkirk, Scotland, this fabric is woven in single-width lengths (71-73.5 cm or 28"-29"). Follow the link below to choose from the thousands of registered tartans in the Scottish Tartans Authority's ITI Database.

Ordering a kilt is a special thing and this process is meant to streamline things as much as possible, not to dehumanize the experience. If you have any questions before or after you make an order, please feel free to contact me.

Measuring

Photobucket1. Natural waist. This is NOT your child's trouser size! For most, this is the indent at the side just above the navel. This measurement should be fairly snug.

2. Hips. Measure the widest part of your child's hips. This can be loosely done over clothing.

3. Length of the kilt. Measure your child from natural waist to the top of the knee-cap. Keep their back straight and ensure they don't look down. Add 2.5 cm (1") to this result.

Additional Measurements: Height and Weight. This is needed to double check other measurements, in case your child deviates far from the average.

Custom Weave Tartans (11.5 oz. K/7)

To access the ITI Database of the Scottish Tartans Authority, click here. Select a tartan you like, the serial number, and specify which shade you would prefer: Ancient, Modern, or Reproduction. Ancient is a faded pallette featuring orange instead of red, light blue instead of dark blue, and light green instead of dark green. Modern are standard bold colours. Reproduction (sometimes called Weathered) is one step further than Ancient. Blue is represented by grey, green is replaced with brown, red is replaced by maroon, yellow is replaced by pale yellow, and black is replaced by charcoal. Below are examples in the famous Black Watch tartan.
