The Irish kilt contains approximately nine yards of fabric and is knife-pleated.
Tartans for the various Irish counties are available as well as a limited number of Irish clan tartans. Solid-coloured worsted wool cloth is also available for a more traditional Irish kilt. (Particularly Saffron or Irish Green.)

2. Hips. Measure the widest part of your hips. This can be loosely done over clothing.
3. Length of the kilt. Measure from your natural waist to the top of your knee-cap. Keep your back straight and don't look down. Add 2 inches to this result.
