The Kingussie Kilt

The Kingussie is a unique and historical style dating to the early 19th Century.

Kingussie Kilt

Located at the centre of the back is a box pleat and fanning outward are knife-pleats which end at the aprons.

Unlike the original Kingussie kilts, our version includes deep reverse pleats at the apron edges for a better fit. (If you are interested in having a Kingussie made in the historic fashion, let us know.)

The Kingussie is usually pleated to the stripe and uses approximately 5 yards of fabric and contains, on average, 9-15 pleats.

Heavyweight (16 oz. Cloth) - $580.ºº CAD

Measuring Guide

1. Natural waist. This is NOT your trouser size! For most people, this is the indent at your side just above the navel. This measurement should be fairly snug.

2. Hips. Measure the widest part of your hips. This can be loosely done over clothing.

3. Length of the kilt. Measure from your natural waist to the top of your knee-cap. Keep your back straight and don't look down. Add two inches to this result.

IMPORTANT: It is preferable to have someone else take these measurements rather than yourself.
